Regice
Type: Ice
Abilities: Clear Body (Prevents Regice's stats from being lowered by a move or ability) / Ice Body (Regice heals 1/16th of its HP under Hail per turn)
Stats:
HP: 80
Attack: 50
Defense: 100
Special Attack: 100
Special Defense: 200
Speed: 50
Base Stat Total: 580
Overview:
The pure embodiment of ice, and one of the absolute coolest legendary Pokemon out there. Regice has an absolutely titanic 200 Special Defense, solid 100 Defense and 100 Special Attack, and a decent 80 HP. The problem lies in Regice's bad typing, which causes it to be extremely vulnerable to all forms of entry hazards and physical attackers, along with a lackluster 50 base speed. However if you play to Regice's strengths such as his usable ability in Clear Body and fantastic Special movepool, you'll find that it can wall practically any special threat and hit back decently hard.
Set #1: Flat Earther's Ice Wall (Assault Vest Attacker)
EVs: 252 HP, 252 SpA, 4 SpD
Nature: Modest (+ SpA, - Atk)
Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Clear Body
Moves:
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast
Flash Cannon / Hidden Power [Grass] / Hidden Power [Fire]
Set Description:
252 SpA Charizard-Mega-Y Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Regice in Sun: 188-224 (51.6 - 61.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
That's just how monstrous Regice's Special Defense is. STAB Ice Beam and Thunderbolt create the always fantastic BoltBeam coverage that nails most of the tier for super effective coverage, particularly against common threats like Greninja, Tangrowth, Landorus-T, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, etc. Focus Blast is to round out coverage, giving Regice a way to hit Steel, Rock, Normal, and other Ice types for super effective damage. The last slot is a toss up depending on your individual needs. Flash Cannon nails Fairy types and gives an extra way for Regice to have more reliable, less shaky accuracy against the previously mentioned Rock and Ice types. Hidden Power Grass is specifically for Pokemon who have a quad weakness to it such as Mega Swampert or Quagsire. Hidden Power Fire is specifically for Pokemon such as Kartana, Mega Scizor, and anything else that doesn't respond to Regice's coverage moves.
Other Options: Regice has access to Rock Polish, allowing it to patch up its terrible 50 Speed to act as a solid sweeper. However, it still finds itself outsped rather easily even with the +2 boost given the high speed antics of the meta. Regice has a few support options as well, most notably access to moves such as Aurora Veil and Thunder Wave, but it finds these moves hard to fit on a set (particularly Aurora Veil, given as how it's outclassed by Alolan-Ninetails in this regard). It has access to additional situational moves such as STAB Blizzard (for use on Hail teams with the Ice Body ability instead of Clear Body), Charge Beam, and Signal Beam. However, unless you're utilizing those moves for a specific niche, the above options listed are better.
